Platform migration guides

Changing platform is a business transition, not a simple file transfer. A safe migration protects learners, payment continuity, historical records and the provider’s ability to reverse course if validation fails.

A controlled migration sequence

01

Inventory

Record courses, users, progress, files, domains, integrations, automations, subscriptions, permissions and reporting obligations.

02

Pilot

Rebuild a representative journey, test it with a bounded user group and document gaps before moving the full operation.

03

Cutover

Define ownership, communication, acceptance checks, rollback conditions and a support window for the launch period.

Protect continuity

Providers should decide how existing logins, progress, certificates, recurring payments and historical records will be handled. Some information may not transfer directly. A credible plan identifies these limits early and explains them to affected learners.

Verify before closing the old platform

Testing should cover representative users, mobile access, payments, emails, integrations, permissions and exports. The previous system should remain available for an agreed period where contracts and cost allow. Deletion should only follow confirmed retention and compliance decisions.

Platform-specific migration guidance is published only where the process can be supported by current evidence. EdTechKit does not promote a migration service or sell placement in these guides.
